Do you like camping? Do you have no fear when it comes to walking and traveling along difficult roads? Then look at mine and my husband’s photo diary.  This time the project “Seasons – Photo Diary” invites you to travel to Bateti Lake.

It is located in Dzama Gorge, Khareli municipality.

How can you get to this amazing place? First of all you are going to need an off-road vehicle and then strong feet! From Tbilisi to the lake it’s around 160 Km by car. Once you reach the forest you have to leave the car behind and continue on foot. This is when the true adventure begins!

When we visited the forest it was wet and it was difficult to see the trail ahead of us. This made our walk both difficult and impressive as the colours of the forest were just sublime! After a long and tiring walk we arrived at Beteti Lake.

Bateti is surrounded by coniferous and beech tree forest. The lake was actually formed during a landslide and the southern part is very boggy. It is located 1,313 meters above sea level.

Although we have dedicated this part of the “Seasons – Photo Diary” to Bateti Lake, if you visit this area our advice is don’t leave without exploring Dzama Gorge where you can see over 50 monuments of cultural heritage including several churches.
