Green nature, snow or the colours of autumn; which do you prefer? If you go to Svaneti you won’t have to choose any in particular since all are on offer! To see for yourself, check out the ‘Seasons – Photo Diary’ by my husband, David Khelashvili. We travel through Georgia to capture the beauty of all the different regions so you can discover this amazing country.

The first thing to think about if you want to go to Svaneti is how are you going to get there? There are flights to Svaneti from Kutaisi and Natakhtari airports. From Natakhtari, a one way ticket is around 65 GEL, from Kutaisi is about 40 GEL. This, of course, is the fastest route to Svaneti but we decided to drive there. The drive takes 8 hours but you get to enjoy the incredible nature and stunning landscapes along the way. Looking back, we think it was a good choice, the mountain roads are just mesmerizing! In Mestia there are many apartments and we decided to stay in a local guesthouse. Our first destination was, of course, Hatsvali. In order to get there you have to take a cable-car and this gave us a great opportunity to take some incredible pictures of Mestia. When we arrived we stopped to look at the majestic mountains that were covered in snow. One of the most beautiful places we visited was Mulakhi. The locals were very kind and happily showed us some of the interesting places in the area. With their help, we got some great pictures of some of the small villages of Svaneti for our photo diary.
