Black Sea Jazz Festival
Black Sea Jazz Festival is one of most large-scale and prestigious festivals on the Black Sea coast. First held in 2007, it became an annual event that brings together not only world-renowned jazz performers but celebrated R&B, soul, disco, funk, hip-hop, electronic music representatives as well. Jazz Festival hosted such popular and beloved musicians and bands as Al Jarreau, George Clinton, Snoop Dogg, Lisa Stansfield, The Prodigy, Lauryn Hill, Macy Gray etc. This year the festival traditionally takes place at the Batumi Tennis Club from July 27th to July 30th. The main guest of the 11th annual Black Sea Jazz Festival will be Jamiroquai.
Georgia has become a hedonistic electronic hot spot for the EDM community. Hosted by Georgia’s beautiful seaside resort of Anaklia, country’s biggest electronic music festival will be launched for the third time this summer. Originally started as a few-day music festival, GEM Fest has already transformed into a month-long techno and house music festival hosting thousands of people across the world. The festival has already earned international recognition and has been spotlighted by world’s major media outlets. Last year the list of headliners of the festival included Paul Van Dyk, Boris Brejcha , Fedde Le Grand, Gus Gus, Stephan Bodzin and others. Distinguished for its mind-blowing line up, this year the festival offers more diverse list of bright stars of global electronic music scene such as: Solomun, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Boris Brejcha and many more. The festival takes its start from July 14th and ends on August 14th. You can buy a one month pass as well as get tickets for separate days to attend the performances of your favorite musicians. The site itself is separated from the inhabited village by the 500-meter bridge and stands by itself as a “paradise island”. The series of concerts is opened by 4GB. This annual festival carries the name of Georgia’s pioneer DJ Gio Bakanidze and this year it takes place 7th time. It is worth mentioning that the festival was recognized as the Best Event of the Year three times by Electronauts Music Awards . Besides its lineup and high quality sound system, the event boasts unique and distinguished locations. Last year the event was hosted by an old train factory, at the outskirts of the city and this year it will take place at the former center of cosmic buildings in Saguramo. This time the festival features 50 performers and the headliners are as follows: Ricardo Villalobos, Move D, Gerd Janson, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Mortiz von Oswald. Traditionally, Michael Mayer and other renowned performers will be resident guests of 4GB. The festival lasts 4 days in total: May 11th, 12th, 13th and 20th. It is important that 4GB is a non-profit venture and all income is spent for the further development of the festival.
Tbilisi Open Air
Tbilisi Open Air is yet another extremely successful festival that counts 8 year under its belt. The annual live music festival has been held since 2009 and over the course of its existence it has brought many prominent musicians and legendary bands such as Placebo, Archive, Air, Setve Vai and many others to the country. It is important the festivals include foreign as well as talented local performers and bands. The name of the festival speaks for itself – the series of rock and electronic music concerts take place in the open filed nearby the city while its original motto “Music Breaks Free” still remains the major slogan for the event. This year Tbilisi Open Air takes place from June 16 to June 18 at Lisi Wonderland, area in the vicinity of Lisi Lake.
